I've been thinking of doing something for The Big Draw event for the past couple of years and have done something about it this year!
With the help of a group of MA Illustration students, we are making shapes for a giant 3D abstract Jigsaw. We will also be providing drawing equipment and overhead projectors to add extra drawn layers to the installation, which will be changing and evolving as the night progresses.
The event is for 'those who love to draw and those who think they can't. [Big Draw; website quote]
CompARTment are hosting the space, as part of their 'White Night' event which will make it a fun evening as there will be lots of other stuff going on at the Open Market Space.
Paper cut outs are part of a series of experiments which will lead to a stop motion animation piece. This work is being created for my MA project in Sequential Design and Illustration. The image of the bycicle came from a series of shadow photos . The inspiration for the series is from interviews with individuals about dark and repetative thought patterns as well as Carl Jungs 'Shadow Theory'.
"in spite of its function as a reservoir for human darkness—or perhaps because of this—the shadow is the seat of creativity."
